Our Story
Since the inception of Shakopee Dollars for Scholars in 1979, the amount of money awarded and the number of student recipients has increased dramatically. In our first year, we awarded $2,800 to 13 students. Today, approximately 125 students receive in excess of $130,000 each year. Cumulatively, we have awarded over $1.515 million to 3,072 students during our existence. We believe it is better to award many moderate-sized scholarships rather than only a few large ones.

In 2023, $138,000 was awarded to 124 students including three 2022 students who earned $5,000 renewable scholarships.
