All 2023 graduates that received and accepted a scholarship from Shakopee Dollars for Scholars during their senior year in high school may be eligible for a 3-year renewable scholarship to continue their education.  In order to be eligible you must:

  • ​Complete or expect to complete their current year of post-secondary education
  • ​Expect to maintain a full-time status at an accredited four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the United States
  • Maintain a cumulative 3.0 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
  • ​Provide proof of enrollment
  • ​Provide  FAFSA for the upcoming year

2024 Award Process

1. Last year's recipients and their parents will be notified on or about Feb 1st that they are eligible to apply for the renewable scholarships.  The notifications will use the email addresses that are available to the Shakopee Dollars for Scholars application system in the student's profile.

2. Students will follow the instructions in the notification message to complete their application for the renewable scholarships by February 25th, 2024. Helpful tips on applying are listed below.

3. Students will be notified at the beginning of  May 2024 if they will be awarded a scholarship.

4. Awards will be sent their awards in the mail in May/June. 

5. Students must accept their award through the Shakopee Dollars for Scholars web site by midnight on June 14th, 2024. If you do not accept your award, your money will be forfeited. For more information on how to accept your scholarship, please view this file.

6. Students should send a 'Thank You' note to their scholarship sponsor. Check out our "Writing a Thank You" page for hints to help write your note. To request the address of your sponsor, e-mail us at sdfscholars@gmail.com.

Additional Tips that will help with application process: 
You will need to make some edits to your profile to ensure that the '2024 SDFS Renewable Scholarship' will appear when you visit the 'My Scholarship' section. Please make the below changes in your Profile:

·         Demographics Area: Update the 'Highest Level of Education Completed' to High School Graduate 

·         Schools Section/Grade Level Area: Update the 'Current Grade Level' to 1st Year Post High School Student

·         High School Information Area: Update the 'Year Graduated/ Expected Graduation from High School' to 2023

·         College Information Area: Update 'What type of post-secondary institution (if any) are you attending/plan to attend?' by selecting Two-Year College, Four-Year College, or Vo-Tech

·         College Information Area: Update 'Anticipated Degree Type' to Associates or Bachelors           

·         College Information Area: Update 'Student will be enrolled' to Full Time

·         Edit the GPA Information Available by clicking the 'Edit' button in the top right corner of the page: Change the dropdown to I have high school and college GPA info and Input your Cumulative College GPA
